Cretan charm

Chasing the last of the summer sun we booked ourselves a week away on the largest of the Greek islands, Crete.

Staying in Chania old town, we fell a little bit in love with the pretty Venetian harbour, narrow lanes, and architecture of Turkish delights. Steeped in history with the old lighthouse, fort and ancient mosque — the waterfront is really beautiful and totally comes alive at night too.

Everything north of the Chania region is fairly accessible by car (or 4×4 in case) so we ventured out to the unspoilt lagoon of Balos beach and the majestic Fortezza of Rethymnon too. We only wish we had longer there to visit Elafonissi and Samaria Gorge. Next time 🙂
